Deutschland...
This past weekend was quite inspiring for my future travels. We visited the Pauls in North Carolina for Laura's graduation, which gave me the opportunity to talk about what I will be doing until I see them again in December. It so happens that when I return from Chile, a day later I will be back on a plane to the Grand Canyon to celebrate Christmas.
Talking to everyone about my upcoming travel (35 days....) only made me think more about the next six months and what travel will come after that. Before I leave for Chile, I have to make all the preparations ready for Berlin in the spring. Which includes talking to Brian some more, filling out the application, getting approval for classes, etc. Hopefully, it will go much better, since this is the second time around.
For Germany, I plan on attending the FU-BEST program at the Freie Universitaet in Berlin. After traveling to Berlin this past spring, I decided that there was really no other place for me to study abroad in Germany. The city is bustling with things to do and has so much culture and history to offer, that I had to find a program there. The program is set up with a semester that goes from January until April, which is very different from the regular German semester. The program focuses on German Language (of which everyone must take 6-8 credits), with additional classes in German and English that relate to German history and culture, as well as European unity. The German "Sommersemester" starts in April and goes to about mid-July. A placement test at the end of the FU-BEST program may allow me to enroll in this semester. This would be really exciting, because I would be able to take classes with German students in the real university setting.
